Privacy Policy

The short version

TapeDeck does not collect any personal data. Your recordings never leave your device unless you share them. There are no accounts, no analytics, no tracking and no ads.

Data collection

TapeDeck collects no data whatsoever. Specifically:

• No personal information
• No usage analytics or telemetry
• No crash reporting
• No advertising identifiers
• No location data
• No network requests. The app has no internet permission and works entirely offline.

Permissions

TapeDeck asks you for these permissions:

• Microphone: to record.
• Notifications: to show the recording controls while a take is running.
• USB device access: only when you connect a USB audio interface, so TapeDeck can record from it.

Android also grants a few standard permissions without asking: running a recording as a foreground service, so a take keeps going with the screen off, and changing audio settings to route sound. None of them give TapeDeck network access.

Audio recordings

All audio recordings are stored locally on your device in the app's private storage. TapeDeck never uploads or transmits your recordings. When you share a recording or save it to a folder, you choose where it goes, and Android and the app you pick handle that transfer. We are not involved in it.

Third-party services

TapeDeck uses no third-party SDKs, analytics services or advertising networks. The only external service is Google Play for distribution and payment processing, which is governed by Google's privacy policy.

Children's privacy

TapeDeck does not collect data from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes

If we ever change this policy, we will update this page. Given that we collect no data, changes are unlikely.
